Root Canal Therapy

Sometimes damage occurs to a tooth and the inside of the tooth becomes infected. Root Canal Therapy is a common procedure that can help save your teeth.

Dr. Matthew J. Clemente, has been performing Root Canal Therapy for the Capital Region for over 35 years.

Root Canal Therapy is necessary when the pulp, the soft tissue inside the tooth that contains blood vessels and nerves, is infected. The pulp extends from the crown of the tooth to the tip of the roots where it connects to the tissues surrounding the root. The pulp can become infected from a deep decay or a crack or chip in the tooth. If I left untreated, the pulp can infect the bone around the tooth, resulting in an abscess. By performing root canal therapy, doctors can save the damaged and infected tooth.
